Generally speaking, the underwater conditions are similar year round.
Because Cano Island is located so far from the mainland, the rains
don’t affect conditions as much as the currents do. For currents, the
best time of the month is usually the time around the quarter moon and
the worst is around two to three days after a full or new moon. That
being said, the overall land and surface water conditions are best
from December until September. Mid September until mid November
usually are the rainiest months with rougher surface conditions.

Cano Island is a protected reserve and spear fishing is not allowed
within the boundaries so as long as you do not harass them you should
have no problems!
